car dies when put in gear, need ideas on possible causes

93 sc300 auto. Starts up fine runs strong dies almost immediately after being put in reverse or drive. Ideas on why this would happen or cause this. The list of stuff I've replaced is so lengthy I can't recall it off the top of my head, so throw em out there and i can hopefully narrow it down

Did this just start happening? Any engine warning lights?

Issues like these are usually a vacuum leak but Id check the following

IAC
fuel filter
air filter
maf

No cel, and yes the problem came outta nowhere. Not a vacuum leak, I checked that before I left. I guess fuel filter is a possibility. Any idea why it would run like a champ in park and just die in gear?

Does it stumble and try to move forward and then stall? Like if you let the clutch out on a manual? Sometime a lock-up convertor, will stay locked up and when you put it in gear it'll die. In these cases it'll roll down the road oaky, but when you try to stop the car stalls like as if you were driving a manual and forget to push in the clutch when you stop. Just a thought.

It almost immediately dies with my foot on the brake...it'll stay alive with me on the gas in neutral, but dies just as quick if I shift back to park

Sounds like PSV might have hit it on the head, I had a pontiac do the same thing once.

pro street is on to something because if its a auto the converter could be locked up due to a faulty sensor or wiring!
but the ecu could be telling the trans to lock up so ecu concerns are a possibility as well!

Yeah, I think he nailed it...just not sure if it would be a problem from the Ecu getting pulled and rebuilt, or another case of major parts shitting themselves overtime I start the car

Is there a way to test? Or would it toss a code if it was Ecu related?
