I am VERY sorry to hear this man. You have always been a stand up guy in my book. You really need to check into the Crime Victims Reparation Act. It is my understanding, they'll pay or help to pay. I have posted a link here for you.

NM Crime Victims Reparation Commission

The local District Attorney's Office will have an employee known as the Victim's Advocate. He (or most likely she) will help you , big time.
