ok thats cool. I dunno, I believe that myself being in highschool band(waayy back when) has helped quite a bit, i think.

Below is what works for me... I have not been to any colleges/schools for editing/producing so i guess I am doing ok. Maybe I should enroll in a class on editing or producing.

At any rate, and i have told others here as well, it helps to be able to "hold the beat" when it comes to editing. Music makes the video. I listen to the music, and cut to the beat. Go back and look at the videos. Study them as to how I have edited them BASED on the beat. Once you have that down, the creativity will follow. You are still young and should have a lot of creativity.

Tell a short story. Have you read books when you were a little kid? ALL stories have a beginning and an end, and everything in between. Look at my videos and you will see a short story from start to finish. I could get a lot more in depth here, but dont have the time right now.

If I am 48 and you are what... 19...20??, you should be way ahead of the curve when it comes to creativity for the age generation of people looking at videos today.

AND... you have to have a LOT of time sitting and editing. I feel that sometimes i spend toooo much time editing and trying to perfect the end result. each of the videos i edited this weekend, about 5 total, averaged from 3~8 hours of editing alone... EACH!!! Then another 1 hour to upload to streetfire. I upload large files averaging 200M~ 450M( streetfire allows max 500M), and this takes time.

I have said this before and will say again... "For 1 minute of edited video, it takes 1~10 hours of editing".

Above all... dont get burned out if you find yourself going stir crazy at the editing stage. After all it is "editors choice" as no one is paying you....yet.

Haste makes waste... take your time editing

Below is a video i made of a collection of cop car lights i had collected in few years. it was hard to edit because iwas trying to "sync" the lights to the beat of the music. I spent about 3hours editing.

Hope this helps, and see ya out on the track soon,

jimmyg

oh... one more bit of advice.... never bite the hand that fees you.
