Ok its been awhile since I posted any updates. I ordered some new race star wheels back in March and some MT ET Street tires for the rear. Im still waiting for my 17 skinnies to come in from China where Race star is making them. Its been over 3 months now. Here is a pic of the rears:


Next up I decided to swap the car to an auto. I decided to go with the TH400 because I was familiar with it from one of our other cars, plus it would be better for the street. Paul at Precision Santa Fe fully built the trans and installed a trans brake. So far the trans is working flawlessly, and Paul is super nice guy who will bend over backwards for his customers. The torque converter is from Precision of New Hampton(Iowa) and has billet cover, antiballoon plates, roller sprag, balanced, etc. To do this swap into a 4.6 mod motor I used:

JW th400 bell housing
JW Flex plate
JW Pilot adapter bushing
Precision of New Hampton TC stall at 4500
Rear cross-member mount (autozone since Yearwood was out)
ARP flywheel bolts
B&M Quicksilver ratchet shifter
Modified rear cross member
Custom driveshaft built by U-Joints
Derale oil cooler w/fan
Custom -8 oil cooler lines
Lokar dipstick
Autometer trans temp gauge

To mount the trans to the rear crossmember, I had to make the crossmember wider and move it to the rear holes on the body mount. I measured my driveline angle before pulling the stock trans and luckily the angle was the same after installing the new trans so no shimming was necessary. Here is a couple pics of the mount modified :



After that I found the ideal location for the shifter and mounted it :


Here is a pic of the shifter mounted with the console installed and the trans temp gauge mounted where the stock shifter was located. I still need to install the custom shifter boot my stepmom made.






Anyway now to the results. At first the TC was only stalling at 2200, so we sent it back to get restalled. Now it footbrakes at 3600 and transbrakes at 4500. So we decided to take it to the track. Before doing that, I installed a 10 psi spring in the WG, which should have added around 100 hp, the car feels much faster. I turned on the 2 step to 3800 because 4500 was too much for the rear end and it started peg legging.

First pass:
Tire psi at 20
Footbrake launch

60 2.20
1/8 8.06
Mph 93.5
ET 12.2
Mph 118.2

Second pass
Tire psi at 20
Transbrake launch at 3800
Tires spun very bad

60 2.27
1/8 8.3
Mph 93.9
ET 12.4
Mph 120.07

Third pass
Tire psi at 14
Transbrake launch at 3500
Tire spin

1/8 7.66
Mph 94
ET 11.80
Mph 119.8

So Im pretty pleased with this 2V stock longblock. I think if we can get the launch down in the 1.6s the car should go low to mid 11s.
