Which model did you have? I had never seen these guys before. For the same price as the pro tools ($300 models) you get up to 2" capacity, where the pro tools only goes up to 1.5, very cool.

From day one driving the car with the UPR power brake delete kit I knew I had to modify it to make the brakes not so fucking hard to push. Well I finally got around to doing something about it.

First things first I pulled out the brake pedal assembly and pulled out the brake pedal. While I was there I removed the clutch pedal for that whole pound of weight reduction. Next I ground down the weld on the brake master cylinder pin and popped it out with a punch. I then drilled a new hole about an inch higher as that was about the highest I could move it without seriously modifying the brake system. Pressed in the pin and welded it back up.

Next up it was time to modify the UPR master cylinder mount plate. Let me tell you UPR did a shitty job designing this whole thing. The angles are way off and the brake rod is not square. Anyway Since I moved the pin up about an inch that meant I needed move the MC up about an inch. So time to drill a hole. Did this with a hole saw.

Now since there is going to be a big gap below the MC I needed a way to plug the hole. Hmm. O there we go the piece I drilled out fit in there perfectly so I welded it up and ground it down.

Moving the MC up naturally meant the rod was going to be too long so I cut and rewelded the rod back together to the right length.

Here it is mocked up on the bench with washers to represent the firewall thickness. Perfect fit. You can see I had to cut a little off the cage to clear the brake switch.

Here is the finished product. The brakes feel much lighter off memory cant wait to drive it.

Small update:

I knew the 3 bar map sensor that comes with the MS3 was going to be close to the limits of its range so I ordered a dual 4 bar map sensor. This unit is cool because it has 2 4 bar map sensors built in, one for vacuum/boost and one for realtime barometric correction so that your fueling calculations will stay accurate in the event of an elevation change (like mountain runs) Before I had an external sensor wired in, this just makes it easier. To do this mod I knew it was time to upgrade my soldering iron. I did a little research and found out the radio shack units work very well for the money. Now to be able to remove the old sensor you need a solder sucker(the one with the baloon on one end) which allows you to heat up a solder connection on a computer board and suck the solder out of the connection. The sucker below is $12.99 and works great. Also this is the 45 watt iron I bought for like $24.

So onto the de-soldering. It only takes about 15 seconds to heat the joint enough to pull out the solder. I had to do 6 joints. Once the solder is out gently pry out the old sensor. This is the stock 3 bar sensor that comes with MS3.

What the new sensor looks like:

Now pop in the new sensor and solder it up. You will need some very small solder like .032". For my first time soldering on a computer board I was very impressed how good it came out. Looks just like the other solder joints on the board that is built by a robot. I forgot to take pics so these will suffice.

Changed some settings in the software and it works like a champ. Found out my wife can blow 20Kpa lol.

Oh by the way I'm hoping to have it running by christmas.

Sweet man, the concept behind the dual 4 bar is pretty cool, and something I'd never head of...

For doing board work you should look into solder paste and a heat gun. Not the traditional kind that you find at hardware stores, there is a specific type used for soldering with paste. Doing it with wire and iron works, the paste/air technique just makes it really easy. Not that it matters, since the work is already done, lol!

Ya I've heard of that method just never done it before. I was scared to do this considering there is a chance of messing it up if you drip solder on the board, but with these tools I think anyone can do it with ease and confidence.
