I'd love to chat back and forth about this project for sure
It's going to get subframe connectors and a Monte Carlo Bar for sure, but I seriously doubt it'll ever see ever see a cage.

Yep. It's pretty much all Mustang Plus Grab-A-Trak.

Will do. I believe there's an outfit called Vintage Venom that does the same thing.

I'm a big fan of big brakes.

Anybody got a line on cheap SVT Cobra brake parts?

Thanks, what headers are you going to run? I need to know if a set of shorties will fit facing forward

Haven't selected headers yet. Joe doesn't want low hanging long-tubes and was leaning towards shorties, but I'm hoping to steer him towards a good set of tri-y's like Doug's.

If we end up with shorties, I'll let you know what it looks like as far as them facing forward, but looking at the shock towers, I have my doubts.

Allright, some progress pics.

Got the driver's rear suspension torn out.

New parts going in.

Only things reused are the front spring bolt and the spring perch (which I cleaned up and painted with VHT Rollbar and Chassis paint).

Should have the driver's side back together and the existing torn off the passenger side today. Plan to have it all back together and the rear sway bar installed this weekend. Then I'll address the front.

Something the pics don't reveal is how clean the car is underneath...there's no visible rust in the floor pan at all. She's in really solid shape for an old car that's been sitting for so long.

That will be a hell of a custom job as the shock tower complicate everything. . . but those can be taken out the use a Mustang II suspension of a rack and pinion.

TO the OP. Looking good man. What wheels and tires are you wanting the run?

I believe he's favoring the old school Torque Thrust D's like they ran on some of the Shelby cars. Probably a 15x7 front and 15x8 rear.

Don't know about tires yet.

Very nice. I'm running a 289 bored .40 over with stock heads with a little port and polish. Msd ignition, distib, ignition, Edelbrock alum. intake (thanks to yearwood ) Hooker headers Full magnaflow exhaus (quite one) sounds so good but I want a little louder. Mechanical cam that is very close to the original hipo numbers, holley 600 about to make that a double pumper. Should be right around 11:1 compression. Runs pretty damn good I think. I'm in need of a tune in the worst way though

you'll need 17's to run big brakes. I have torq thrust d's in chrome and wish i would have gotten 17's to clear big brakes.

Progress looks great!
