My 81 C10 fun truck

I was asked to make a build thread for it, so here it is.
This truck is nothing special, jjust a fun truck.

The truck is a 1981 Chevrolet Silverado 2wd short bed single cab. Came stock with a 305, TH350, and a 10bolt 8.5 inch rear end with 2:73 gears.

It was slow, had no balls, but was clean and my very first car.

After 3 months of driving it, the 305 had bent some pushrods. Instead of fixing the 305, i decided to just do something different.

i put a new built 350
bored .30 over
scat balanced crankshaft
H beam rods
keith black pistons
comp cam
gm vortec heads with head work
aluminum dual plane high rise intake
edelbrock 600cfm
edelbrock fuel pump
moroso high volume oil pump
msd ready to run ignition system
flowtech LT's ceramic coated
and much more thats the main stuff

i put a built TH400 trans in it with a 2800 stall

put a 8.8 inch 12bolt rear end from a 76 pick up in it
richmond 4:11 gear kit with minispool and moser truck axles
bought it for $300, it came out of a full size race truck, and its adjustable rear end,

exhaust is true dual from the LT's to flowmaster 50 series to bumper-3 inch pipe

i got lakewood traction bars but the adjustment bolts are in the way so i gotta mod the traction bars somehow

thats it for now

This picture was from 2010^

OLD MAN STYLE!!!

As of right now it needs a trans rebuilt, cam and lifter kit, new rocker arm locking nuts, tires, some body work, and the interior redone.

I had alot of fun with it for a couple years, raced a good amount and it finally took a toll on everything.

The trans started to mess up, and the rocker arm nuts cam loose once. I went to re lash them and they wouldn't lock down. Also, i think a cam lob may be rounded off and/or i have a collapsed lifter.

Being an 80's GM truck, the body also started to go downhill. Before it got to bad i parked it.

It needs a floor board, a hole in the bed floor fixed, and a little bit of surface rust fixed then repainted.

This is the truck right now.

I got in trouble for having slicks on it, i knew i would. But instead of paying for two 285/60/15 i just bought a set of steelies with some good tires for now.

I want to ditch the rear end, the TH400, and run a 4x4 rear end with a stock diff and 3:42 gear probably go with a mild 700R4 with a beasting trans cooler.

I don't want to race it anymore, i just want to cruise with it and go to shows.

I also want to static slam it.

Here is a bad job of lowering it with windows paint lol.

So there is my project truck. After the Neon is up and running, i want to start working on the truck this winter. I want it repainted the same as it is but with a better brown and white. I want it done by next summer.

Here is a video of it idling and revving from "10

I forgot to add that in 2011 someone sideswiped it.

You cant really tell, but it's slightly scratched down the side, the mirror got ripped off and pulled out of the door, and the rear tail light broke.

Thats awesome man, glad to see that others are racing their trucks lol!! Its a sweet truck man, a 5/7 drop on your 8 inch rallies would really make that truck nice. I have a
86' c10 with a 95' vortec motor, very mild motor but ran great on a 100 shot lol. A few of us here are into these trucks man if you ever have any questions. Also 67-72chevytrucks.net is a great resource for these trucks.

It might be ur computer. There are quite a few aftermarket manufactures that make parts to lower your truck. Thats why i recommended 67-72 chevytrucks.net. the site shows tons of pics and how to sections on pretty much every aspect of the truck.
