Got some more finished today. The links are done and sorted out. Had to section the upper and relocate the aft end mount for it. But they are cycling great and my angles are great. It might not look like anythings been done, but it takes a bunch of hours of adjusting and cycling and then readjusting.

Lookin good.

Probably gonna want to truss the shit out of the 44 if you plan on air time. I've bent quite a few under a full size and not much abuse.

No shit? Do you have any picks? I've been looking into a few prefabbed trusses, but haven't put much thought into one yet. Is that your truck in your sig? Info?

The investment in those compared to what I'm doing is about another 3k. Finding a D60 from a 77-79 ford is near impossible now a days, and if you do, your gonna pay for it. Then I would need new wheels as my trucks got 6 lugs that are pretty new. In a perfect world with no budget I woulda done that exact setup too though.

I dont think Artec sells a 44 full width truss except for a rear diff. If It were me, Id just get some ~1.5" dom and go knuckle to knuckle and plate it. Thats what I did to my 9.25 up front and its seen some serious abuse with no problems. We've done the same thing to 3 other trucks as well...all get abused and not another bent axle since. My 04 and my buddies 03 were both on their 3rd front axle before we trussed these ones...

A 60/14 is def the way to go, but the 60 will still need trussing for any real air time. And I totally understand running 1/2 ton crap. There are benefits to it too, far less unsprung weight being one of them. Either way, you are winding up with a far better setup than the IFS.

When I went from the 9.25 rear/44 front in my 74 to the 60/14 bolt I felt like I lost tons of power. And that was going from 3.55's in the half ton stuff to 4.10's in the 1 ton stuff. Its a big difference. And the handling going "fast" off road was compromised. The cheap white body shocks controlled the light axles ok, the heavy stuff, not at all...

Thanks for the guidance guys. Made a lotta progress today after none on Thursday and Friday. Got all the links and axle final welded and painted. Probably doesnt look like a lot, but it sure took up a bunch of time. Tomorrow we'll be hanging some coils and hoops. Im hoping to drive it home tomorrow night as well.

How are my angles?

Ok guys, today was the maiden voyage of The Smasher. It still needs some tweeks and adjustments, replace 2 of the springs, and a few other things, but im real happy with where its at right now. Heres some pics of what we did today. First was the hoops, then hanging the coil overs and putting it on its feet. Gotta give it up to my buddy DJ. Couldna done it with out his amazing fab skills.

51 inches on 31s. Before the fenders measured at 49 on 37s.
